Calico Pastoral offers producers with premium seedstock and breeding services to improve your herd and accelerate your business. With various options to access Calico Pastoral genetics through either the sale of livestock, semen for Artificial Insemination (AI) or embryos for Embryo Transfer (ET) we provide economical sensibility, flexibility, and customisation to our clients. Our animals and genetics are facilitated direct to producer via enquiry and at selected breeder sales and auctions.

WHAT WE OFFER
Additionally, we will assist you in facilitating, organising, and coordinating your genetics acquisition. We offer various accessory services to your purchase. We can assist with transport arrangements, syndicated/group purchase or transport of stock and stud setup, if desired. Furthermore, as a small producer ourselves, we understand that economical healthcare products (i.e., medicines, drenches, and vaccinations) are difficult and costly to source and as such we happily share in resources, whereby we can assist in advising, sourcing, and sharing various livestock products to keep your stock in tip top health.

This check is to prepare your stock as desired
Generally, this will involve a complimentary pre-purchase drenching. However, for additional costs we will happily register stud animals, halter train (if arranged early on), conduct pregnancy and genetic testing (if not otherwise specified), commence a ration or feeding regime or undertake veterinary health checks. We want you to feel confident in working with us for the purchase of your stock. If you have any other requirements or requests, please don't hesitate to ask, and will do our absolute best to accommodate your needs. 100% satisfaction is our goal.

Try our teaser bulls:

Our teaser bulls are vasectomised at 6-9 months of age and are ready to work from 12 months old.
We handle these animals regularly to ensure docility and ease of management for their prospective owners.
*For best results, it is recommended teaser bulls should only be used for a single breeding season before being culled and sent to processors.
This annual turnover of young bulls leads to increased return on investment (ROI), more obvious heat detection, ease of handling, and greater effectiveness and performance in their duties.
As the teaser matures their libido will reduce and their heat detection is much more subtle (less obvious to the producer). Additionally, old bulls are less desirable to processors and will diminish their value and ROI.
After the breeding season concludes, these young teaser bulls can be culled and sent to processors resulting in a handy profit and ROI for producers.

Livestock Guardian Dog - maremma
Maremma (purebred/registered)

*Our Maremmas are purpose bred and as responsible dog breeders we generally only have puppies available when we require additional dogs for our own purposes or have a sufficient demand from enquires.
We breed for strong healthy dogs that last the test of time and the climate with innate working ability and natural instinct - some stuff you just cant teach or train. We are very strict on what we accept in our breeding program - exceptional pigmentation (especially around the eyes and nose), a conformation that is fault free, good temperament and natural intuition are non-negotiable.
If they are no planned litters, we can plan and organise matings and litters upon request if there is enough interest and demand, however these will require a 50% deposit (refundable) paid up-front prior to the mating.
Puppies, dogs and planned matings will be announced on this website as well as on our socials, so its best to keep checking back. If you are interested in or planning on acquiring a livestock guardian puppy or started dog, please get in touch with us as we can notify you of any upcoming or planned breedings, or additionally we can organise a mating (demand dependent). All puppies and dogs will be desexed (unless otherwise arranged) vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, hind dewclaws removed (this is for the long term health and wellbeing of the dog) and vet checked prior to departure.
